PTP Have finally launched their version of a PRRT (pressure relief thermostat). The PTP remote thermostat kit is suitable for all Post '96 S1 Elise's and all S2 Elise's (K series only). This is the latest development in the fight against thermal shock within the engine, which is one of the biggest causes of HGF (head gasket failure). Both Land Rover and MG Rover have been using this system for a number of years now with great success
Designed to help to prevent thermal shock suffered by the engine and reduce HGF; by keep the engine temperature change at a slow and even rate, this kit will help to reduce thermal shock, thus reducing head gasket failure (HGF).
Kit comes complete with: *82°C PRRT grey thermostat, which has a lighter pressure relief spring. *Black silicon hoses which are designed to last longer than traditional rubber hoses, they also allow a more efficient water flow. * Fitting kit and Installation Instructions.
The kit is supplied with black silicon hoses, an 82°C PRRT thermostat and all fittings, plus full fitting instructions. This kit has been designed specifically for the Lotus, it needs no modifications to the existing coolant system, and you simply replace two coolant pipes and remove the current thermostat. The installation should take two to three hours by a competent DIY Lotus owner. Alternatively it can be fitted in our workshops hear at PTP
